The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, appointed Jorge Arreaza as the new Minister of People´s Power for Foreign Affairs, replacing Samuel Moncada.

"I have decided to appoint Jorge Arreaza as Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will take office from today onwards," said the Head of State from El Poliedro of Caracas, where he led a meeting with constituent deputies elected last Sunday 30 of July.

President Maduro appointed again Samuel Moncada as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for North America and Ambassador of Venezuela to the Organisation of American States (OAS). "To work in Washington in order to defend the truth, peace and dignity of Venezuela," he added.

Jorge Arreaza has been until this moment Minister for Ecological Mining Development. Previously, he served as head of the Ministry of University Education, Science and Technology; he was also Executive Vice President of the Republic.
