COMMUNIQUE

The People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations hereby informs the Venezuelan People and the international community that on June 04th, 2018, it received a notification issued by the International Court of Justice, whereby it reports that the President of the Court will welcome the Representatives of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as well as the Co-operative Republic of Guyana on June 18th, 2018, aiming at listening to the different points of view of the Parties related to procedural issues.

In this sense, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, loyal to its historical position and in conformity with the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, reaffirms its strong willingness to defend the territorial integrity of our Homeland, based on the 1966 Geneva Agreement; legal framework which rules the territorial controversy on the Essequibo.

Venezuela shall exercise all actions vis-à-vis the corresponding legal, diplomatic and political instances, favoring the high national interest and the permanent demand of the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Venezuelan people over the territory of the Guayana Esequiba.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela shall continue defending the sovereign rights over the Guayana Esequiba. Likewise, it calls for the national unity to protect the most sacred interest of the Homeland.
