Misión-Milagro 

Venezuelan Misión Milagro plans to perform 200 cataract and pterygium surgeries from the Mungra Medical Center, located in the Nickerie district of the Republic of Suriname, informed the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza.

 

“This week our Misión Milagro with the support of Petrocaribe plans to perform 200 cataract and pterygium surgeries from the Mungra Medical Center in the Nickerie district in Suriname. The cooperation of the ALBA-TCP does not stop!”, The diplomat specified through his account in Twitter @jaarreaza.

 

Vlugman Charles, 72 years old men, was the first patient to undergo cataract surgery in the Nickerie district, within the framework of the regional cooperation of the Petrocaribe agreement.

 

In the middle of the month the first phase of evaluation and diagnosis of the Misión Milagro in Suriname was successfully completed. The Venezuelan medical team attended the communities from Apoura, Kalebaskreek, Korneliscondre, Coronie, Wagenningen and New Nickerie, many of theese, far from the urban centers located in western Suriname, on the border with Guyana.

 

Misión Milagro is a social program that emerges from the Cuba-Venezuela Agreement, created on July 8, 2004 by Commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro. Among its main objectives is to improve the abilities and skills of people suffering from visual disorders by incorporating them into social life as well in Venezuela as in other Latin American countries.
